![]() | WORLD VIEW. If she has an aversion to all guns (that does not stem from some traumatic incident in her own life) she is drinking someone's coolaid. She will have other silly, emotional liberal ideas which she will hang on to to the bitter end, no matter how illogical . Kick her to the curb and get a real woman.I married a farm girl with 2 older brothers. She came INTO the relationship with her own guns!Oh, for the guy who posted a facebook with a PF9. They were making fun of it because it was a PF9, not because it was a gun!! 8^) |

![]() ![]() | My girlfriend is scared of guns but gives me no grief about it. My 15 year old Daughter however loves to shoot her SW 686 and is a dang good shot. Thanks to her Daddy !

| Freedom Loving Citizen ![]() | Before I met my wife, when she was a single parent, raising her only son she told me that she would have never allow weapons in her house. Well, she doesn't seem to have any issues with them now. She said that once she was better educated about them and understands how responsible I am with firearms, she is glad they are in her home. ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I never did much dating. I had a highschool crush on a girl my freshman year, wound up dropping out of school my sophomore year to get a GED and start college early and I didn't see her again. A few years later I ran into her, asked her out and we've been together since, working on 6 years now. That's the extent of my dating experience. I really never asked her how she felt about guns, the topic never came up. I asked if she wanted to go to a gunshow with me on a lazy slow sunday, she said sure so we went. We walked past a table where a cheap EAA revolver caught her eye for some reason, she said "ooo, I like that one." I had my wallet out before she shut her mouth. I didn't know if she knew I carried a gun at the time. Now I think she regrets that day because I pretty much took that as a free pass and I can show her excitedly my newest acquisition without fear of repercussion. Now she likes to see which gun I've got on me. She enjoys going shooting except after one shot she holds the gun with two fingers and says "okay im done" regardless of caliber or type/size. Some days she'll do 5 shots of .22. I haven't yet decided if that's good or not. Her dad owns a couple guns but her mother is very much anti-gun. I don't even know what her dads got other than a 9 shot .22 revolver he let me take out. It belonged to his grandfather and the manufacture date was 1912, it was in near mint condition and shot beautifully. I think I got lucky. She's not anti gun but doesn't like to shoot off my expensive ammo either. Now I am working on my bachelors of science in nursing. With that field obviously I'm surrounded by females. I'm one of 2 males in a class of 40+. I've put out an open invite to the range several times and I've gotten one taker, a girl who had not seen a gun in person beyond the butt of a LEO's service pistol in a holster and was brought up in a very much anti-gun household. A lot more than the ones that spew the anti gun cliches at me whenever I bring it up are the ones that have questions and a genuine interest in why a seemingly normal guy with no criminal intent or law enforcement background would have a gun. I've been more than willing to share with them and I feel many who initially feared me by association with their hatred/fear of guns have opened up and become fairly close friends. I think a little education goes a long way as long as it's done correctly, gently and objectively. I'm more than willing to listen to all of their concerns and comments, even ridicule if they will give me the same courtesy for my response. Last edited by danmdevries; 06-29-2009 at 22:42. |

Been there, have the emotional scars...My wife now is not exactly anti-gun, she is just fighting some past issues. An ex pulled HER gun on her and held it to her head during an argument. She hasn't been too good around them since. We are working on it, she has been shooting with me, but it isn't easy for her. She goes back n forth between hating them, and knowing that she is safer with a gun in the house. Logic vs. emotion. One day at a time.
