Have you ever been dumped for owning a gun? - Poll

A couple of years ago, I was dating a woman that I was actually pretty compatible with. We had not been dating too long, but the chemistry was great and chemistry counts for a lot. After about three weeks, she decided to end things after learning I had a LTCH and owned several guns. She said she did not want to get into a long-term relationship with someone who planned to keep a gun in the house.

Has this ever happened to you????

For the record, we did talk about it. She used most of the normal arguments against guns, which I will not rehash. Sadly, I am not very good at debating (especially w/o warning), so I lost.

Well, I lost the debate. I guess I will never know if I "lost" in the deeper sense. Misguided views on guns notwithstanding, this one had potential......

Yes, I try and bring it up when we first start talking now. Been a number of them not want a second date because I do and will always own firearms.

I have done things similar. Of course, even when I mention being a gun owner in casual conversation, I get funny looks.

Frankly, I wish I could video tape all of them, because some of them are funny (in a sad sort of way).

It's retarded the knee-jerk reactions people have to guns. Once I posted (onto facebook) a nice photo of my stripped-down PF-9 on my table with the title of "Fire Extinguisher." I got comments like

"Hey- I have this friend- he's called the Unibomber- do you know him?"

Moronic. please. I am one of the gentlest people you will ever meet, but none of that matters apparently.
