Went shooting with a friend today and took the girlfriend along after she heard him and I talk about it all the time. We were on another friends property so it was a more comfortable for her than being around a bunch of strangers. She had never shot a gun before and knew very little about them. I decided to be nice and let her start on my 22 with a bull barrel. After going over all of the safety practices I loaded the magazine up and shot it so she could see it. She said she was ready so I loaded the magazine back up for her, told her how to cock it and showed her where the safety was. She cocked it, lined up her target( with the scope I havent zeroed yet) pushed the safety and fired her first shot. She leaned her head back for a second the back to the scope and BANG BANG Bang Bang expending the whole magazine only taking long enough between shots the realign the crosshairs. I realized standing to the right and slightly rear to her was a bad idea when I had brass flying at me. She complained of the barrel being heavy so my friend and I moved a table so she could use it. I next show her how to load the magazine. Again the whole mag is gone in no time. I then see her take my whole box of ammo to the table and just goes to town. I really wanted her to shoot my M1 Carbine. So right before we get done I load a mag up, show her how to cock and where the safety was, tell her not to be nervous about the kick because there really isnt any and she goes through the whole mag in no time. At the end of the day I asked her how it was and she told me she had FUN!!! But she wished she could have shot the M1 carbine some more and she cant wait till next time. Oh and she really loved watching the stuffed animals getting blown up by the Tannerite I brought. I think I might have created a ammo expending monster.
