![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Congrats on a great time with your daughter. Enjoy the time now, they grow up too fast. For me it seems like yesterday when my then 3 year old daughter decided she wanted to try what mom and dad were doing on the back porch, breaking clay. I loaded a Remington 1000LT with a light home load, and after teaching her trigger control, got behind her out of sight to hold the stock of the shottie as she held it at her side. I told her that after she yelled pull, point the shotgun at the clay and then pull the trigger. So she yelled "PULL" and as soon as my wife released the bird, my daughter fired. She didn't care whether she hit anything or not, she fired the gun and yelled "again, again". She was hooked. That little girl is a grad student at college on her way to a PhD. We still go shooting as often as possible, but nowhere near what we used to do. Enjoy the time, they grow up much too fast. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I remember eons ago, my dad teaching me to shoot his Browning lever-action .22 (BL-22). This was when I was 8-9-10 or so. But I had a friend's dad REALLY teach me how to shoot when we were in Scouts together. I didn't shoot again (dispatching chipmunks in the yard didn't count) until I was out of college and, on a whim, dropped into the indoor range in Evansville one weekday. Now, several years post that afternoon, I quite enjoy shooting. And I've kind of "turned" both of my fathers onto it. My step-dad recently bought a G19 and is currently awaiting his LTCH. I talked my dad into getting his LTCH a few years ago, but he still hasn't purchased a firearm for use as home protection. (He has pretty weak hands these days, hard to find something that he can A) operate and B) doesn't hurt to shoot. We're getting there. -J-
