Didn't realize there was a city named Avon. Where is it? Is it a suburb of Indy?
Hey, now! I grew up there! Back when it was a blinking light at the intersection of 2 state highways.... My, how times have changed.

Due west of Indy in Hendricks County. Home of the Black and Gold Avon Orioles.

I'm guess it is a local policy. I've been in several Friday's (and Applebee's for that matter) without issue. Not this one, though.

Does TGIF actually have good food?

I've driven by it many times while in Avon, but never had the desire to stop and eat.
I haven't had it in a long time, but it was fair for a chain restaraunt. We were less then pleased with Applebee's this time around but we all got things we had not tried there before too. I'd recommend TGIF if you've never tried it before.

I haven't had good luck with Applebee's lately. Usually go to the one in Brownsburg though.

Yeah, my wife didn't even touch her cheese sticks. Their burger was ok, nothing spectacular. Sort of had an odd flavor to it. :dunno:

I usually get a steak or more often boneless wings. It's been a while since I've had TGIF, but based on memory I think they're better than Applebee's.

Seriously I never heard of it. Just looked it up on a map. I probably drove through it when I was in college. I went to college at Wabash in Crawfordsville just northwest of Avon, spent time in Greencastle at DePauw due west of Avon and at Butler in Indy due east of Avon. Never heard of it.

Guess my biggest concern was if this is some sort of a corporate policy for TGI Fridays. Thanks for answering that part too. :yesway:

I can't believe that it is corporate policy, it must of been "his" policy. I'm on the road over 40 weekends a year, and just about every weekend I will eat at a TGIF and I always OC....Ft. Wayne, Crown Point (Merrillville), Valpo and others. Not once have I been questioned about OCing.

    Applebee's, and others, maybe ...

... honors veterans on Vet Day by giving away any entree they have, for only a Vet I.D., active, retired, or V.A., and the turn-out is heavy. They even take our IN pink license if it's all you have with you. I've also seen DD214 copies accepted. (If the Vet is REALLY old, they've been known to cover the price of the spouse's meal also.) They've told me that they expect a lot of men and women to carry that day, and I never have seen a challenge (Anderson). I OC in Applebee's whenever I'm in the area of one, just because of how they do on Vet Day. It means a lot. More than words. In other restaurants, if I'm challenged, I go through the Cliff Notes (and our recently published here tri-fold) with the challenger, ask if it's O.K. to CC to un-panic the other customer ("MWAG !MWAG!") and hope the Mgr has learned a lesson. If not, then while we chat, I'll eat until warned to leave, and then take my full stomach and my tip out to the car with me. Adios. Maybe we need a window-decal that says something like: "Fiddle-De-Bops Restaurant is a gun-friendly zone. The licensed gun owners you may see here have passed stringent background checks by local, state, and federal law-enforcement bureaus. Enjoy this safe environment while you dine with us. Signed, "The Management."

I bet if 50-60 people decided to stop in for lunch or dinner at The avon location they would not ask anyone to leave or place weapons in their auto's.. they would never dare to upset such a large group of people..

And policy would change once they had 50 or so phone calls to corp.. by 50 different people..

LOL, yeah it was an obviously long pause before he could bring himself to say the word "gun." That's another reason why I sort of refrained rom conversating with him because I didn't want to make him feel more out of his comfort zone than he already was.

shoulda bought him a beer or offered him a cigarette to relax him a bit :D

Still .. I won't be patronizing TGI friday's after this.

TGIF in Carmel has never questioned me about OC the 3 or 4 times that I have been there. Neither has Applebees in Kokomo..
