I recently got my license and am shopping around for the right gun and holster. I'm wondering if anyone has advice for something I can conceal well or what would be the best way to carry. Being pretty thin (6'4", 170 lbs) it feels like much of anything would be rather noticeable.

Crossbreed or CompTac Minotaur MTAC are good CC holsters. You should be able to easily conceal.

Or you could just open carry. :)

If you'd just put on a few lbs, you could tuck a full-sized gun under each moob like I do. A little velcro to get caught up in my chest hair and keep them in place in case I get all sweaty, and Bob's your uncle.

Im 5'10" 136 lbs. And the only place i can conceal is 12-2 oclock iwb, or otherwise known as appendix. Skinny guys like us dont do well at 4 or any other time for that matter. Lol
    I can conceal a j frame, g26, or a m&p 9c.

I'm skinny (just under 140 lbs). Unfortunately, I do not have the height of the OP; I'm 5'8''! I have found that concealing a larger handgun is difficult, but certainly not impossible. I do not own a Crossbreed (but will get one at some point). During the months that I can wear a jacket, I often carry in a paddle holster. However, I use a Holster King. It works perfectly. Sometimes, I have to wear looser fitting pants or adjust my belt.

I'm only about 6'1" and around 175 but I feel your pain. If you are wanting deep concealment, take a good hard look at Comp-tac and Crossbreed. I carry a Compact Sig p250 in a crossbreed and can wear it with Khakis and a polo tucked in over it.

For me, the trick is to adjust the ride height of the gun so that it is as low as the holster will allow it to go while still being able to get a good draw and re-holster it. I also adjust the cant slightly forward to allow better concealment and still maintain a good draw.

Gun choice, most are going to also ask you what your preference is. Semi-auto or wheel gun? Is a particular caliber important to you? Like I said, I carry the sig in 9mm, it is comfortable for me and I can conceal it well. Also, what is your budget?

In most cases, you will have to dress to the gun of your choice. In my case, the crossbreed hides my gun well enough that if my t-shirts are a little longer they can still conceal it. This of course negates your ability to wear skin tight shirts that show off your muscular manliness.

...one more thing. I usually carry at 4 o'clock. I used to carry at 3 o'clock, but found it uncomfortable. I get a more comfortable fit now if the pistol is positioned closer to my fattest area (my butt!). It also conceals much better. Plus, I am used to drawing from this concealed position now. If I'm using the paddle, I still wear it at 3 o'clock.

I'm 6'1" 160 and have no problem concealing a G19 in a Theis IWB holster. It's the same style as the crossbreed supertuck. That type conceals really well.

I'll second the suggestion on appendix carry. It works well for skinny guys. It takes some time to find the most comfortable spot, but I can't imagine going back to 4:00 carry now. I appendix carry either a G26 or a G19 in a Raven Vanguard 2 or a JM Custom Kydex AIWB holster.

Once you get comfortable enough carrying a gun that you OC on your hip like a boss, none of this will matter.

But until then, I'm 5'8" and 150lbs and I can conceal most guns pretty well if I use the right holster and shirt. Admitteldy it got easier when I hit the gym and put on some healthy mass. (I used to be a whopping 135lbs) If you're like me you have a tactical gun for OC/under a jacket carry. A smaller, but still bigger compact gun for holstered under a suit jacket, and a subcompact or XDs type gun for "clubbin".

Match the gun to you and your clothes to the gun.

I couldn't disagree with you guys more.
I'm 5'6" and 140lbs. I carry a Sig 226 OWB. A good belt and holster do wonders. I carry in a Galco concealable with a Galco belt. In the summertime I usually just wear an untucked tee shirt.
This past 4th of July I was at a party and no-one knew I was carrying until I told them the next day at work. I carry at the 3:00-4:00 position

I'm leaning towards a Sig p250, I was trying to find something used but it seems like lately I can't find a used gun for much more than a new one. Also leaning towards the 4:00 position but it sounds like I'll have to wait and see which works better/more comfortable in my particular case. Also looks like I might have to start wearing some bigger shirts and wider pants.
    Thanks for the info.

I'm a skinny guy myself, (170 at 6'3",) and I find that if I'm going to CC, (I usually OC,) an IWB holster in the style of the Crossbreed Supertuck works well. I position it so that the gun is about 4 oclock. This puts the gun right behind my hip bone, (skinny guys can't have guns RIGHT at 3 or 9,) and instead back in the very-slightly-fleshier part of my body. Conceals easily in a t-shirt or anything else you want.

If it's either winter, or I'm OCing, it's a crossdraw 3-slot pancake with a G21. An open coat or jacket keeps it hidden if I'm wearing one.

I'll echo the comments about a crossbread style holster (I have a Foxx) just behind the hip. I carry a Shield there and it conceals well. Only issue I have is stooping, reaching or bending to much causes my tighter tshirts to ride up and catch on the grip or sights. Longer, or looser shirts are find, tucked is fine.
