I am not perfect, trust me on that. But we should never let our precious metals float around. Just my opinion. I am glad nothing adverse happened to the OP except a scolding by HH6.

I am not criticizing, but I won't let a free round float. All ammo is in my gun, the safe in a rack or in ammo cans. All of my mags are loaded, but I only take the one that belongs to what I am carrying that day.

It was range ammo. Not my brand. Looks like somebodies reload? I probably picked it up at the range and put it in my pocket. Figured I would pull the bullet and reload the case.

Don't worry be happy a free round.

The one thing I can not explain in this thread is how a loose 22 round would penetrate a washer tub.

I do know that 22 rounds do not like to fire after soaking in some wd40. One pocket had rusty little bolts one had 22 shells and I dumped the wrong ones in a jar of wd40.

    Strange days indeed. Strange days.

    Wife just yelled at me.....

Daily occurence when I was married.

You are reinforcing an idea that had already taken root in my mind. I am 40 years old, never married, accustomed to doing whatever I feel like, and have concluded that keeping it that way would be a wise plan.

If you are already accustomed to being alone you have the tough part whipped.

Wife. Never had a squib load. Heck I have never been around one. While they are possible they are just an internet thing for me after 30+ years of a very active shooting life style. Must be luck.

Hopefully that trend will continue for another 30 or more years!

Come to think of it I have never had a squib either. Been shooting 30 years. I have loaded muzzelloaders with no powder but that is not really a squib in the sense we are talking. Seen squibs and a had a few light charges but luckily all my shells have gone bang.

used to be 22 rounds from the boys pockets and 45 rounds from hubbies pockets, not it is weights for fishing lines from hubby and boy. Even find lures now and then.

long as no one gets hurt, I don't care

My dad has a old Ruger Blackhawk .357 revolver. Back when he first purchased the thing he also picked up this little Lee (I think) hand loading kit. It was in a box that is 4" long by 3". All of the loading is done with a few dies and a small hammer. He told me how that he had loaded some up went out to shoot them and stuck one in the barrel but didn't know it. When he fired it again he said he knew something was wrong...which BTW cracks me to this day. It made a very slight bulge in the barrel but that was the extent of it. He still owns the gun and I just shot it a few ago. Still shoots fine.

Straight into the washer from my CARRY ON (or the pocket from jeans I was wearing? Not sure which..)from my FLIGHT home to Fort Wayne International after being examined by the "on their game" Punta Gorda TSA!

Wonder if it will still fire? I would try it but would really hate to pound a squib out of my barrel.

I once took a round of Federal Champion .45 ACP, (the kind with the small primer pockets), and soaked it in a jar of WD-40 for a couple of weeks. I wiped it down and stuck it in the magazine with all the rest. It went bang in my Springfield Trophy Match just like all the rest. The myth of oil and water deactivating ammunition is greatly exaggerated. I'm not saying it can't happen. It's just not the given everyone claims it is.

Had a whole mag of Winchester PDX1 .40 go through the washer. I didn't trust carrying them, but fired the entire mag a couple days later at the range with no issue.
