You're demonstrating a prime example of total misunderstanding of the Catholic faith
Have I misrepresented anything? Here's your chance to enlighten me. I will be respectful.
You're demonstrating a prime example of total misunderstanding of the Catholic faith
"Not 100 people in the United States hate the Roman Catholic Church, but millions hate what they mistakenly think the Roman Catholic Church is.” Archbishop Fulton Sheen
Salvation through works instead of faith alone, an "infallible" human called the pope, praying to people instead of God, confessing sins to people instead of God, the invented idea of "Purgatory," holding human tradition up with a greater authority than the Bible... and many more. These were the among the bases for the Protestant Reformation 500 years ago. (Christians "protested" Catholicism and left the Catholic church.)
What is the difference between Catholics and Protestants?
The protestants starting leaving in about 400AD, then Luther and his followers came around in 700AD...about the same time Muhammad was inventing his thing....interesting to note that Fundamentalism isn't even 150 years old. It's certainly interesting, the study of Christianity.
No, you stated that Catholicism and extraterrestrial life are not necessarily incompatible. So nothing. The topic of extraterrestrial life came up and I was simply stating that Christianity and extraterrestrial life are not necessarily incompatible.
With Catholicism? Where do I begin...What else do you find offensive and contrary to scripture?
Ok, we are free to elaborate. What is misunderstood? Do you think Martin Luther was confused when he wrote 95 theses on the Catholic Church?
Martin Luther lived 1483-1546.

Well, let's start with the notion of a pope.
Then Mariology.
Then confession.
Then transubstantiation.
Then prohibition on birth control.
Then the openness to other religions as viable paths to salvation.
Then the objection to sola scriptura.
Then the imposed chastity.
Is that enough to start?
Let's not forget the Catholics added several books during the counter-reformation. Therefore, when you say "it's in the Bible", we can say, "No it's not."Purgatory, is not invented. It is written about in the bible, but never mentioned by name. And why do people think Purgatory is such a bad thing? You'll be baptized and cleansed by fire. Right now, we are not clean and holy and pure enough to enter paradise. Purgatory just makes us presentable.
How can one believe without repentance? Are you going to claim that Christ's atonement has limitations on what sins it can cover?Salvation thru works instead of faith alone? So are you saying a person that likes to rape 5 year old boys but believes in GOD will go to heaven? Especially when he has no remorse what so ever for all the sins he has committed?
If you can't cite, I can't refute.Confessing sins to a priest instead of GOD? I can't remember where at, but in the Bible, Jesus gave the power to his disciples to listen to sins, and to forgive. The Catholic Church teaches that priests have this same power.

Sola Scriptura...the ancient Catholics translated the Bible from Greek, and Hebrew around 400 AD. Translated it to the vernacular of the time, Latin. Now St. Jerome and a few others sat down and had to work with Church Fathers to decide what stories went in...what stories stayed out. Some books not considered as inspired didn't make it...read the preface to the King James Bible sometime...it's rooted in the Roman Vulgate and the early translations from 400 AD...except in this Kings version they took out some stories they didn't feel were really inspired...just like Luther did...and in the last 1600 years it's been edited and edited...and reinterpreted by men...scholarly men no doubt but consider this might be why the Protestant idea of Sola Scriptura (by scripture alone) isn't a part of the Roman Catholic Church.
So Christ's death wasn't enough for salvation? I find that hard to swallow.
Salvation thru works instead of faith alone?* So are you saying a person that likes to rape 5 year old boys but believes in GOD will go to heaven? Especially when he has no remorse what so ever for all the sins he has committed?

So then why does Hell exist?
For unbelievers.
