    Hey INGO,

Did a quick search and didnt come up with a lot, so here it goes.

Im going to be moving in a month or so, and I currently have a 600lb cannon safe in my basement(dont want to talk about how we got it down there:rolleyes:...it didnt take long at all).

Does anyone have any suggestions about how to get it up the stairs and out?
How did you move your safe?
    Does anyone do this professionally?

Im not about to pay $500 to have an $900 safe moved...Id just leave it and buy another one(not in the budget).

Was considering hooking a winch up to the hitch on my dually and dragging it up the stairs...the problem is making the turn at the top....and not damaging anything.

    Please and thank you
    God bless

There's really no other way to move it other than a good dolly and muscles. Get some 2 inch pvc pipe to roll it on once you get to the flats if you want. Slower, but takes a lot less muscle than the dolly.

You might call Don Cook Safe Sales 765-779-4042 for a quote? They are a Liberty Dealer SE of Anderson. Probably would move yours for you. Their Email address is <info@donslibertysafe.com>

I've moved mine a few times, and three grown men and a mule is by far the best way to go. An appliance dolly is a must.

If you have the rigging skills the winch on the truck would work. I would guess the first order of business would be to rig up something in the doorway with a pully so you are pulling from the top of the door and not the floor.

He's a pro and has all the equipment. Not high price. picked my safe up at store, delivered to my house, installed in basement for under $250. Even hauled off the packaging.

Heavy appliance dolly, buffed out friends and beer.

This is how I moved my 900lb Superior

Rented a heavy duty stair climber appliance dolly. It sucked and didn't help much but we got it done. Went real quick over the ceramic entry way.

Looking back I should have bought a few smaller lighter weight safes and stashed them around the house instead of a real big deal that is hard to move and conceal. Everyone that comes over asks "what's in the box?"

I don't know about yours but some models the door comes off to lighten the load.

Once out of the house I rented a truck with a hydraulic lift gate. Worked out great for my safe and big Snap-On box full of tools.

we used two men and a truck when we moved; I had to show them the safe was empty and they moved it like any other furniture in the house and placed it where I specified in the new house. Safe is about 800 lbs dry.

Some safes allow you to remove the door. That would help remove 1/3 of the weight. Might help moving when comparing 4 hundred pounds compared to six
