Sorry, couldn't come up with a good smoke headline. Steam, bongs, smoke, I dunno, all the elements are there, someone make something out of that.

IRS gives its blessing to newly-formed ?First Church of Cannabis? in Indianapolis | Fox 59

I actually don't care a fig about any of the issues involved here. I just wanted to post this to say this:

The Grand Poobah looks like he should arrive in a Delorean and hang out with Marty.

    That's it, carry on.

This is old news. They were granted non-profit status more than 2 weeks ago.

They have since leased a church building and plan to hold their first "service" on July 1.

I agree, that guy looks like Christopher Lloyd and talks like he's been smoking steady since the 60's.

Good luck smoking pot at the big meeting next week. It's ILLEGAL on a federal and state level...you're going to go to jail. Have bail money ready.

WooHoo, go prosecutor! Go IMPD! Make those arrests! You won't look like idiots at all. Seriously, this is what they want. For the state to come in and try to make their case and then take the RFRA to court. Either it means what it says or it's just more TEAvangelical maundering for special privileges.

Prosecutor warns Church of Cannabis; blasts RFRA - 13 WTHR Indianapolis

"If they come on like brutal thugs, it will be an ugly situation. If they come out like ladies and gentlemen, that I know they are, and they want to hand out citations for appearances in court, that's fine, give me a party invitation, I'll go down for the dance," Levin said.
Wonder what it'll be? Jackboots or notepads? Guess we'll see.

With 52 homicides in Marion County this year, Curry expressed his frustration with the law that sparked the debate.

"Our office and police agencies have serious public safety issues we have to address every single day. I am beyond frustrated that we are having to devote valuable time and resources to this matter solely because of an ill-advised and unnecessary law enacted by our legislature," he said. "The act serves no purpose, no purpose whatsoever, other than political posturing."
Then ignore this one, Mr. Curry and focus on real crimes for once.

Just saw, elsewhere that the crowds may well be bigger than the chief and prosecutor are expecting. Saw at least one person who was planning on open carrying. My, my....

Questions for any LEOs in the know:

How would officers determine who smoked and who didn't?

Would you have to actually witness the act to issue a citation or make an arrest?

Are there plans for officers to be inside the building at the time of the service to monitor activities?

According to what Chief Hite says, he's going to arrest everyone there, smoking or not. Seems like a good lawsuit that'll cost Indy some bucks. Not the chief or his officers, though. They'll have no skin in the game.

Ignoring current law, breaking it, and expecting to NOT get arrested is foolish. Breaking it in great numbers, getting arrested peacefully, in order to draw attention to your cause is popular and sometimes it works. Those that show up and break the law should expect to get arrested, that's how it works.
