Thank you for the add. I just got my first pistol this week and researching about the gun laws in Indiana. I know that we can open and concealed carry. But how about when in vehicle? Can we open and concealed carry loaded? Or unloaded. Sorry I saw a lot of articles that are different from each other. TIA

Would a loaded Shockwave on the passenger side seat of a 1948 F4 be considered "in plain sight" and legal?
Just curious because the Shockwave hovers in that mysterious world of not this, but yet not that.

Indiana has constitutional carry for Indiana residents. You may need an Indiana LTCH (license to carry handgun) to travel to another state that honors our LTCH. Be sure to look up the laws for each state you travel to and travel through.
Thank you so much! I’m sorry for the newbie question, just wanted to make sure that I am abiding the law before I carry.

Look at this one which is current when the Indiana law changed in July of 2022.
As you will see this one is from the horse's mouth.

"This law DOES NOT allow everyone to carry a handgun as Indiana
law contains certain criteria which must be met for a person to legally carry within the state.
A person MUST NOT be a PROHIBITED PERSON as defined by IC 35-47-2-1.5.

    ... An Alien"

I KNEW IT! The Indiana legislature is privy to information, the general public isn't.
Either that, or they're covering their butt, "just in case".

As they say, "Knowledge is the First Line of Defense!"
Acquire as much knowledge as you can...read online, take classes, ask question, etc.

Here's a decent article from the Indiana Responsible Gun Owners website that covers Indiana Use of Force guidelines pretty well:

Indiana Constitutional Carry is limited to Indiana residents and does not allow for carry outside of the State of Indiana.
The United States Concealed Carry Association (USCCA) has a great interactive reciprocity map for the states and which states have reciprocity with another: https://www.usconcealedcarry.com/re...6.1370771056.1703424190-2141262949.1690335373 that can be very helpful in providing information as to what different states require and will accept.

Be sure to look at the individual states requirements, such as, in Indiana, one can carry at age 18, but not purchase from an FFL until age 21. Many states (MI, VA are 2 that I know of) that require one to be age 21 to carry in their state (their minimum age requirement) so, even if you have an Indiana Carry License, if you are under age 21, you still cannot carry a handgun in their state, even with an Indiana Carry License, as you would not be considered 'of age' in that state, regardless of whether you have an Indiana Carry License or not.

So that must be it. They’re still posting old laws on top of the new one. Thank you!
Guy Relford at The 2A Project worked with the Attorney General on getting the word out on ConC.

Also there is confusion with the part of Indiana Code that deals with hunting and ATVs.

Also, hello and welcome to INGO. Please click the link below and introduce yourself. Good bunch around here with a lot of knowledge. We're a big dysfunctional family, but we'll grow on you. Not like a fungus, but otherwise.
