My 1-8's so far haven't found a 62gr bullet/ammunition they like. They do like 75-77gr bullets.Thank you for the willingness to share advice and personal experiences. Although I`m new to AR`s, I`m not new to hunting arms or shooting. I know the very basics, that different barrels like different ammunitions, and that every barrel is unique and different. I had been communicating with Springfield Armory, and getting information was like pulling teeth, but I finally got them to let me know that they accuracy test their rifles with Federal .223 Gold Medal 77 grain. That gives me what I needed/wanted. The chart that someone else shared showed that for a 1:8" twist barrel, the best bullet weights should be 62-69-75 and 77 grain bullets. I`m going to get back out with some Federal .223 77 grain rounds and some Black Hills 5.56 77 grain loads and see how they do. I am hopeful that this will greatly increase the likelihood that one, or both of these loads will shoot wonderfully from this AR.
I`m not a handloader, I`ll be buying.My 1-8's so far haven't found a 62gr bullet/ammunition they like. They do like 75-77gr bullets.
Do you load your own or buy?
Thank you that info, I very much appreciate it.You can try Hornady 75gr, AAC has 75gr and 77gr. They are economical to see if your rifle likes them.
These will be easier on the wallet. Maybe one of these will shoot to your expectations I. Your rifle without paying for the more expensive versions of these.

MO fox head @ 300 yards.Reading through this thread some think 4moa is accurate and some 1moa or less.
I guess different people have a different idea of what accurate is.
Accurate to me means 1moa or less.
Now what does accurate mean to you all?
Accuracy to me, is repeatability in the groups it shoots. Be it 2" or 8" groups.Reading through this thread some think 4moa is accurate and some 1moa or less.

I would suggest you buy a few boxes of these and see what it does.I`m not a handloader, I`ll be buying.
I usually do 10 shot groups. IMO that gives you more information than 3 or 5 shot groups.Accuracy to me, is repeatability in the groups it shoots. Be it 2" or 8" groups.
Precision is repeatability in small groups, just because one shot three bullets touching doesn't mean much to me. Do it three to five times in a row. Do that and your on to something.
I tend to do 5 rd groups.I usually do 10 shot groups. IMO that gives you more information than 3 or 5 shot groups.
That's why I always load at least 10rds of each powder weight when I'm testing new loads.
I sure hope that 8" group isn't at 100yds. I'm pretty sure rifled shotgun slugs with iron sights can do that.
It depends on what ammo you're shooting and what the purpose of said gun/ammo combo. Is a Toyota Supra a fast car? It is for its engine displacement yes, but in general no. Many other cars out there are much faster because they have parts on them that make them much faster.Reading through this thread some think 4moa is accurate and some 1moa or less.

Not for me.It depends on what ammo you're shooting and what the purpose of said gun/ammo combo.
...I've never had any decent accuracy 1moa-1.5moa with any M193 or M855. I don't even buy that stuff anymore of any brand.
I've had very good luck with Australian defense industries 69gr 223. https://www.venturamunitions.com/au...s-223-rem-69gr-matchking-hpbt-ammo-20-rounds/
