      .44 mag round

240 XTP yields much better groups than Lever Revolution through both mine and a buddy's 2 Ruger 77/44s. I recall reading that somewhere else as well. That said, you need to test through individual equipment. The XTP worked well on 2 bucks for my buddy the last couple of years.

      Opening Day

Hunted opening for 2.5 days. Saw a lot of bucks in bachelor groups and few does, but the deer were not moving much. I found early scrape activity and glassed several book bucks. However, no shooters were within range during shooting light. Crops are still being harvested in the area. The...

Larger Packs If you want quality and larger packs, you can't go wrong with Kifaru. Another alternative with a good reputation is Mystery Ranch. They are both made in the U.S.A.

I believe it stemmed from customer service issues and their dealings with a few retailers.

Gunsite or Louis Awerbuck Yavapai at Boone co?

All good comments. You would learn from either. Louis has an incredible eye for detail and diagnosing problems. As stated above, he is a more than an instructor. He is a teacher. You never know how long he will still be travelling, so no time is better than now.

      Deer hunting rifle...

.458 SOCOM They are, indeed, awesome. There are people on this site that sell the RRA upper. You can also order one directly from Rock River, but I've read there is a long wait. They typically fetch $700. It is difficult to find a used one. If you don't have an AR lower, you will need to...

      Plainfield Shooting Supplies

Bob has always been straight up with me. I haven't recently purchased from any other shop. If he doesn't have what you want, he will do his best to get it for you. Definitely no high pressure sales tactics.

How important is antler size to you?

Depends on the year and time in the season. The later it gets, the less choosy.
