No it does not. The weight of the gun is distributed nicely on the top of the pants. My next one I will have made will have a strong metal clip. Just so its easier to take off and on.

There was a bad batch of pistols that had inferior designed front sights. Apparently Ruger replaced every gun that had this issue, no questions asked. Just looking at the facts (pictures) that Ive seen/read.
There are plenty of reviews on the ruger. Only complaints Ive read, are about the front sight breaking. But if I were going to buy the ruger Id put different sights on it eventually.
But the new RIA does look and feel good. Held one at the LGS, full size tho. Very nice for the hundred dollar...
Im in the same boat as the OP. Its between the newer RIA tac midsize (4.25") and the SR1911 CMD. Held both, the ruger seemed to be better quality but $100 more. It will be my first 1911, so I believe its a good base to learn the platform.
The only cons of the Ruger is the front sight breaking...
