I carry a glock30 or a lcr (depending on what I'm wearing) and feel perfectly comfortable. As long as you have a quality holster, watch where your finger is, and just pay attention you'll be fine.
I personally think that any modern quality handgun is more accurate than any person. Yeah some guns shoot worse and are harder to shoot but they are still more accurate. I don't hit nearly as well with some guns as I do others. It's just the user.

You should love it! I have a G.I. model that shoots great. I almost bought a loaded a month ago but I came across a deal on a Colt Rail Gun I couldn't turn down. But Springfield makes a great 1911!
