      What you have now, 45acp 1911, is a practical gun that ammo can be found at a reasonable cost. I have several 44 magnums and two 500SW magnums. Never felt the desire for "breaking peoples steel targets". If you want magnum power, get a handgun built for it and can find ammo for.
