      358 Cobra Ammo

What can you tell me about 358 Cobra ammo? I understand it is a 'wildcat' caliber. My question is, is this ammo the same as 358 Win? I have found bullets, but do not currently reload myself. Where is a good resource for caliber comparisons? Where would you go to find out more about this...

      Rabbit Hunting

My son got his first rabbit yesterday. This is his first season carrying a gun on our rabbit hunts. He was using my grandfathers .410 pump. This is the first of many, I’m sure! He is already talking about turkey season, and deer season. Proud Dad for sure!

      Happens Too Often

I know this has been posted here too many times. Went out to the little place I have to hunt today. Among other things I had to do, I went to check my trail camera, and change cards in it. You guessed it. Camera gone. Why in the heck to can't people keep their hands off of things that don't...

      WTB: Hunting Chaps

Looking to buy smaller sized hunting chaps for my 10 year old son. He is a pretty big fella for his age. Already 5' tall, and a 30 waist. He is involved with NAVHDA (bird dog training) and enjoys being in the field. Hoping to spend as little as possible, as I'm sure he will grow out of them this...

      Training Day

Spent the day with my brother and son, who are members of the Central Indiana NAVHDA chapter, training bird dogs at Buck Creek. Was my sons first day in the field with his 'new' shotgun. He did pretty good, made contact with 2 birds. Was very conscious of his surroundings and safety. Was great...

      Great Day Rabbit Hunting

Spent a great day rabbit hunting with my 2 favorite hunting partners, my son and my brother, and some really good friends. Only bagged 1 today, but we had a blast, and everyone enjoyed themselves.

      Son's First Gun

My 9 year old son just bought his first gun. He saved money for about a year to make the purchase. All he wanted was a rifle 'to start with'. We found a used Savage MK2, used at Highsmith Guns in Greenfield. He emptied his bank, and took an envelope of bills and coins yesterday to buy his gun...

      Hunter Education

Took my soon to be 9 year old son to Hunter Education class Saturday. It was a long day for him, but he did it. Scored 86 out of 100 on the test! He was pretty worried going into the test, but with a bit of encouragement, he did great. He thought it was beyond cool that 'a real conservation...

      Manufacture Date of Gun

What is the easiest way to find out the manufacture date of a rifle? I recently received a Marlin 336 in .30-.30, from my father. He bought the gun used maybe 25 years ago. He only bought it because it was a great deal, probably put less than 20 rounds through it. Sat untouched since then. I...

      No deer? No problem.

Spent as much time as possible in the tree stand this weekend. Shot at a large doe, and missed, but that's another story. What I did come home with was a rested mind and a happy heart. No one in my group harvested deer this weekend, but that doesn't matter. I can tell you it was cold!, but I...

      Doe in Range....CLICK

Long story short, pulled the trigger on a big fat doe Saturday, instead of a hearty BOOM, all we got was CLICK! ( shooting a H&R Ultra Slugger) thought I must not have cocked the gun all the way(?) , so I re-cocked the gun. Now the doe has heard the loud click, and turned to go the way she came...

      Welcome Home Weezie!

Our new rescue dog joined us last night. Weezie, the little gal on the left, is with our girl Maggie, who has been with us for 2.5 years. So far, they seem to enjoy one another, but don't even think about sharing toys! Not gonna happen....yet.:xmad: Maybe in a few days.

      Boys First Gun

Took my stepson out for his first time shooting. He did great for his first time out. Even managed to knock a couple clays out of the sky with a .410 & a .20. My buddies were impressed with his knowledge of, and practice of the 4 rules, and how well he did shooting from a rest and standing...

      Sunday Afternoon Sniper Training

Practice makes perfect. Took him to the NRA Convention where he shot at the Pyramid Air Gun Range. He forgot how much he liked to shoot, and just how good he is for a 7 year old. Time for some classes and safety courses. Then ????

      Saturday Rabbits

Can't imagine a better way to spend a wintery Saturday! 4 guys, and we all shot our limit. Took about 2-1/2 hours. Weather was perfect. Cold and sunny, a tad breezy, but tolerable with the right clothing. Will add more pictures when I get them. Hunted private farm land near the Boone /...

      Merry Christmas to Us

Purchased a new Ruger SR22 for the wife and I yesterday. Went to Highsmith Guns in Greenfield. Great price, and even better service. We have visited them a few weeks ago, since we are new to Greenfield. My wife and I were very impressed with how nice the store is. Brightly lit, clean and...
