      TSA/Airline travel questions

Each airport is different. At IND it's not too difficult. Declare the firearm when you go to the counter to check your bag. I usually say "We need to fill out a firearm card" The agent will fill out the card for you to sign. You place the card inside the locked case with the firearm. They...

Boone County Conservation Club likely closing later this year

I'm not an attorney and have never been to the club, but don't directors have some level of fiduciary duty to act for the benefit of the members. If I were a director and "had close ties to the city" I would want to take every reasonable measure to ensure this was an "arms length" deal just to...

      INGO AR-15 LOWER

      Rip Louis Awerbuck

RIP. It took him less than 10 minutes on the range to correct what I had been doing wrong for 10 years. A truly great teacher.

      Washington, D.C.

I asked a guard at a DC office why they all carried revolvers. He said that a DC ordinance prevented them from carrying anything more powerful.

      Warren and the bank hearing

Most of the cases she is talking about involve violations of consumer protection laws. Those cases are referred to the Justice department for prosecution. The most recent example would be the robo-signing mortgage scandal. Attorney Generals from both the federal and state levels participated...

      Warren and the bank hearing

This is just grandstanding for CSPAN. US Atty's are involved in all settlements.

      iphone apps.

The shot timer from Innovative Application is free. If you enjoy skeet, trap or sporting clays, ClayTracker is great though its a pay app.

Unique criteria for buying a handgun.

Interesting discussion. I also look at what it takes to maintain a firearm. Glocks field strip to four pieces (excluding the magazine), and need very little lubrication. I was disappointed in my compact Kimber because you need a bent paper clip to disassemble it.

      Classes in trap/skeet/clay shooting?

+1 for Indiana Gun Club. Bob Self is a good instructor.

      inexpensive skeet gun recomendations

I've also found the Browning Citori very pleasant to shoot and can only say good things about the used one I purchased from Indiana Gun Club. I've looked for less expensive alternatives, the most reasonably priced one I've found is the Benelli Diamond sold by Dick's Sporting Goods at $800. The...

      Cloverdale vs. Atlanta

Thanks. August fits into my schedule the best. I did the Appleseed at Cloverdale last October and thought the instructors were very good. I got hooked on the idea of earning the patch.

      Cloverdale vs. Atlanta

I'm trying to decide whether to sign up for the August Appleseed at Atlana or the one at Cloverdale. Do the same instructors teach at both clubs?

Where to become a certified pistol instructor?

If your motivation is not financial, and you are not limiting yourself to pistol only, the appleseed folks seem to have a program of training new instructors. Appleseed Project Home
