GLOCKMAN23C - BTW I recommend that you spend the bucks, and buy a stuck case kit, or make one yourself, by purchasing equivalent parts from the local Home Depot. That will save you a lot of grief, and money from replacing damaged dies. I've been
reloading since 1974, and had to use mine...
Your problem is most likely the lack of enough lube on the cases. I would recommend that you again take the dies apart, and give them a good cleaning using Hoppes #9, bore/gun cleaner. Make sure you clean out the vent hole as previously
mentioned.
Since they were "used" dies, there is a...
Your 100% incorrect, it would help if you read your history before you make a statement like that. The majority of the population of the Hawaiian island were Americans. if you were referring to the Japanese-Americans, in Hawaii, they weren't sent to interment camps. Just in...
That's what I figured, but I was trying to figure out how to do it without interrupting the reloading sequence on the Dillon. Thanks, I'll try it your way.
Use a primer swage tool.
They run from: $34 for this one: RCBS Primer Pocket Swager Combo 2
to: $101 for this one: https://www.dillonprecision.com/super-swage-600_8_8_25263.html
If you plan on using a lot of military once fired brass in the future, spend the extra bucks and get the Dillon...
The picture doesn't show the headstamp too clearly, but I see a two digit number and what looks like the NATO cross. Your problem is that the brass is military and has a crimp on the primer. You have to remove the crimp from military brass. Once this is done, seating primes will not be a...
Just wanted to ask those of you that reload 223 ammo on a Dillon 550, what is the reloading sequence you use. Just a little info, I'm not a new reloader. I have used a Rockchucker press for years to reload rifle ammo, and I have also used a progressive (Dillon Square Deal-B, and the 550B) for...
I haven't been on this forum for a while. Now a muzzle loading thread. Yowza! Wowya! Great idea! I still have to catch up to the previous 74 pages of replies and comments.
Just a question, is the gun lubed sufficiently? AR's love lubrication, a "little" lube is not going to go a long way in AR's. You have to really lube it up. Start with the basic stuff first then check everything else.
Is it possible to post a photo? Is this a traditional styled sidelock muzzle loader, or a newer straight line type muzzle loader? Also did you disassemble the rifle, to check for other marks under the barrel, or areas hidden by the stock?
They didn't have any 30 rounders when I came home in 1971. We would have gotten them if they were in use. We were given a lot of newer equipment to use. We had the XMCAR-15 (carbine version of M-16, with retractable stock, long flash suppressor, short barrel), the grenade launcher attached to...
Sportsman Guide has a used US Military Surplus Colt M16A1 Parts kit for sale. To me it's a little pricey, since it's missing a barrel, and lower receiver. It does have the fixed carrying handle, tear drop F/A, triangle fore end, and the bird cage flash suppressor. It's like the one I used in...
When I saw the first sentence: "I do sometimes collect firearms that don’t go by the name “Mosin” or “Nagant”, or fire ammo other than 7.62x54r, and here are 2 such examples." & American Classics. I thought what? Then I figured you were going to say something smart like you also collect...
It's not true? Apparently, you haven't heard his 2014 State of the Union address.
Obama Pledges Gun Control 'With Or Without Congress' In 2014 State of the Union Address
spaniel - Your absolutely correct. It was a mistake on my part. I made a bad assumption, based on past experience. In the past when I purchased a (non-gun) BP muzzle loader, and saw the "FFL needed", I sent an inquiry to the seller, regarding the need for it to be sent to an FFL. In all...
Well jy951 - If you sensed hostility, I'm amazed, since their wasn't any intended. So please accept my apologies. As spaniel picked up from my post, it's more a case of frustration.
