I thought I was the only one that did that, I also take my pistols and rifles and handle them, wipe em down and look at them some more,especially when new and shiney. Yes, I guess weird is the word... oh well.
Police officers go thru training for proper thinking under pressure of a gun battle and hopefully many hours of training under many other circumstances and they get ran thru the ringer when there weapon is fired. So cop is expecting someone he doesnt know anything about but sees a gun on him...

I took my wife shooting with my s&w 357 magnum with 2" barrel, gave her 38s first, then put in magnums, this was her first time shooting, she shot 2 rnds but didnt want to shoot it anymore, this was at an inside range so i thought she did well , noise and flash is a little more pronounced...

I am looking at my mod. 66-2 and pin is in exact same position, off center just a bit. You are gonna love this in 3". these are fun shooting revolvers even with 2" full on 357s. I would just leave pin alone , mine has not budged since new. My trigger is not discolored at all. Cant help you...
I think this "game" has become an adrenaline rush when people get new stuff, the feeling when the hunt is over and that box of 9mm is in your hands and not someone elses . When your in traffic and you dont let anybody in ahead of you. Maybe its become more than just getting a box or two of ammo...
