I'm actually from Minnesota and have spent a ton of time in the BWCAW!
I agree that indiana is "tame" compared to there, but one dog charging at my son was enough.
See my EDC is Gold Dots, usually in 9mm. Another way to ask my question is: are my EDC 45 acp HPs better than FMJs for woods carry in Indiana?
My 3 year old son and I were charged by a growling dog, while out on a hike, that thankfully stopped in time. That has made me wonder if FMJs would be...
Thanks all for the thoughts so far. I dont think hardcast would be necessary here, and my concern with HPs is that they would clog and/or not have the penetration after going through fur.
Any more thoughts are welcome.
What is your opinion, and why, on the effectiveness of 45 acp with FMJ ammo as a "woods" round for Indiana? Specifically, using a Glock 21 as protection against any mean critters that I may come across while out in the woods?
Please dont go into what other calibers would be better. I know...
Surprised I haven't seen more discussion of this. Let's say you live in or near the area being searched. Would you folllow instructions and shelter in place or would you leave the area? If you would leave would you take your bug out supplies? If so do you think they could be a detriment- that is...
I am waiting for the renewal of my Indiana permit. I have a current Utah non-resident permit too. Can I legally carry in Indiana with just the Utah permit while I wait for the Indiana? I will check into this more thoroughly tomorrow but I would like your thoughts on this for now. Thanks.
But the map ISN'T suggestive of any relationship between levels of gun ownership and gun violence. It CAN'T be suggestive of such a relationship because there is no "gun ownership" data on the map. You just can't say C is related to (let alone causes) B, when the only data is between A and B...
This map is really misleading, so although I like what it is trying to do I don't think it would be a good image to share around. Here are some serious problems with the image:
1. The text "More Legally Owned Guns = Less Crimes" is not supported anywhere by the maps. The maps show ONLY the...
I have the G21SF. I went back and forth between it and the regular. I know I made the right decision. I have large hands. I think most all holsters for the 21 will fit the 21SF.
I cannot say enough positive about Spike's. I gladly waited my turn in their backlog, and I certainly wasn't disappointed when my rifle arrived. When I called them to check on the status they were very nice and professional. Three of my friends have now purchased Spike's, and I've heard nothing...
I'm sure that was pretty cool to be with him, and probably somewhat of an honor for you. But that doesn't mean he was correct. Dorothy of course knew what she was doing, but how many years ago was that? Times change. IIRC, the MN DNR even had some sort of public ad campaign (similar to the...
I saw the video when it first came out and was asking myself the same question. I can't find any reason whatsoever to draw, let alone shoot. However, were I out with my family and I saw someone like this coming towards me I certainly would be going into "defense mode," by which I mean getting...
Please, please, please do not pack in ANY bait. Non-native bait fish are starting to threaten native bait fish in many BWCAW lakes. If you must use bait, catch leeches from the shore line.
How do I know this? I am from MN, have property adjacent to the BWCAW, and have guided in the BWCAW.
Oh...
I think it's a good idea to question why manufacturers have such a policy. Is it because steel ammo actually hurts the gun in some way and so manufacturers are forced to exclude wear due to it, saying it is inappropriate use by the owner? Or, is it because it gives manufacturers a nice "out"...
Before I purchased my Spike's Tactical I spoke at length with them on the phone about this. What they said boiled down to 'shoot whatever you can get for the cheapest, and shoot the hell out of the rifle, that's what it was made to do.' I agree with the previous posts that if a gun can't handle...
