DNR Proposal for .243 and up rifle for deer season?

I have avoided this thread due to foolishness being written by so many of you. I thought I would return to see if any of you had wised up. No such luck. I am actually regretting joining the forum. You guys have a good time without me. I am no match for a bunch of intellectual giants such as you.

DNR Proposal for .243 and up rifle for deer season?

Semi auto shotguns don't have 20-30 rounds either. Semi auto and multiple rounds will never make up for you lack of hunting prowess.

DNR Proposal for .243 and up rifle for deer season?

If you are questioning my knowledge of the current hunting laws there should be no doubt in the fact that that I do know what is allowed. It is becoming obvious to me that the lack of good common sense that I see in the field extends to this forum. Unlike most of the "weekend Warriors" on here...

DNR Proposal for .243 and up rifle for deer season?

My concern about allowing more calibers are the platforms from which they are launched. If they are idiots with a pump gun how about a legal caliber in an AR type gun? I guess after thinking about it some it is more the style of rifle that the rules change may allow that concerns me. Why be...

How much does one save on reloading your own pistol ammo?

I haven't bought factory ammo in so long that I would have no clue how much I save. When reloading you can tailor the load to your gun or to the task at hand. For example I can load my 357 rifle to be effective for small game or deer based on how I load. To me that versatility is hard to put a...

DNR Proposal for .243 and up rifle for deer season?

I am a better reloader than I am an auto body man so I will be leaving the minivan in the "quiver" this year. We have strayed from the original topic haven't we?

DNR Proposal for .243 and up rifle for deer season?

As far as deer stands go I don't use one nor do I see a need for one. Most of what is spent on deer hunting each year is marketing hype. I may be in the minority here be I fill my tags each year. I am also not a trophy hunter either so I may not need the advantage a stand offers.

DNR Proposal for .243 and up rifle for deer season?

Statistics do not make me any more comfortable when I am in the field listening to the rapid fire "spray and pray" deer hunters. Rather than looking at new calibers maybe a focus on ethical hunting would make sense so we can all enjoy hunting. Truth be told, all any of us need is a 357 mag...

DNR Proposal for .243 and up rifle for deer season?

I agree. On private land or a lease I feel there is little need for caliber regulation. I would just like to be able to take my son, when he get a little older, to public land and not be afraid of a stray bullet from someone trying to take a deer in rapid fire fashion. I realize there are...

DNR Proposal for .243 and up rifle for deer season?

I for one would like to see a single shot only rule for public land and I see no need for any additional calibers. The last time I hunted public ground on opening day I was scared. Shots ringing out every where, 4-5 from what sounded like the same hunter. There is no way that most people...

My run for 50... Please Help

I have a question that maybe you could answer and it will help both of us increase our post counts. I would like to plan a trip to deer hunt with some family and I they are from around the Bedford/Bloomington area. I live in the southern part of the state and have little knowledge of the...

Does Your EDC Have A Name?

I like "Joe Friday". If I were going to name mine I might just steal that name.

      Midway USA Shipping

In the past they offered free shipping on everything if I recall correctly, but now it seems to just be selected items and for a limited time.

      Short barrel 44 mag?

I don't like the recoil from a snub 357 let alone a 44 mag. Ouch! Now 44 specials would be a different story they would be quite comfortable I would think. I have a 44 special Charter Arms bulldog and the recoil from that is not bad at all and it would weigh less that the 44 mags you are...

      44 mag for deer...

I am very impressed with the 44 Mag Handi. I handload so I was able to fine tune a load that gave me clover leafs at 50 yards utilizing a 300 grain xtp. This has been very effective even with less than optimal shot placement. Even with my heavy handloads it is not difficult to handle the recoil.

      Gun coatings explained please.

I just had a slide sprayed with gunkote and I am very happy so far I don't have any experience with any other brands but gunkote is tough. I carry a Kel Tec p11 with the belt clip so the slide is in contact with me all the time and no rust after carrying all summer.
