I have an RIA 1911 gi and my uncle gave me a colt mag for it. It fits in the well, but it don't drop out like the act mag does, I have to pull on it to get it out. Do i have to get a specific magazine for it, or is this normal?

It should take any 1911 mag. See if your RIA Mag will work in the uncles gun.
RIA pieces are not the tightest spec. available. I have had to modify pieces from gun to gun.

Probably just an issue of tolerance stacking. There's so much variation in frames and magazines it's not unusual for some components to just not be compatible. Some issues that can affect magazine fit are trigger bind where your trigger bow that rides inside the frame is rubbing the side of the magazine or your mag release when you push it is still rubbing the magazine and not letting it fall free. If your RIA mag works fine than if you need more mags just try some different manufacturers. I wouldn't really try to fix something that isn't broken just for a Colt mag that's not that good to begin with.
