22 Shot Shell

Okay...not sure if everyone is aware but this spring is when the 13 year and 17 year cicadas cycles fall on the same year. (Hasn't happened since 1803.)

Well last time when the rer eyed ones filled the skyline I thought 22 shot shells and a cooler of beer in the backyard would be a lot of fun!!!!

22 shot shells are stupid expensive for what they are.

Was wondering if anyone has tried making a cheaper alternative?

Was thinking maybe getting empty pill capsules online, cardboard shot cards, and pull the projectiles of cheep 22's.

What are the throughts from everyone? Has anyone tried anything else?

The shot cartridges are $40 per hundred, so these have to be some "high-value" cicadas. But if you want somebody to drink your beer and watch, I'm game

The CCI's are pretty expensive. The Federal's are only $15.89 plus tax for a box of 50 (still high, but not as bad as CCI).

Soooo got to checking into Amazon and a size 3 pill capsule is the same diameter as a .22. They are $14.00 for 1,000 of them. Old spent .22 case to cut the cardboard shot card.
