I am wanting to know if anyone here has had the same problem. The gun belongs to the wifes dad, and he was shooting it, and it cracked right above the trigger on both sides. Is this something that is common and what can be done to fixit or is it just a paperweight now?

The frame is junk. But on a good note, according to a little google fu S&W seems to be replacing the frames. I'd contact them.

Yeah he said he has put several thousand rounds through it since he has owned it, but he didnt know if they would be able to anything with it since he isn't the orignal owner of the gun.
