I can get you a load developed exactly to what your rifle likes. Just helped someone finish a load development for one.

Can even do a drop chart also if you would like.

My TRG-42 likes the SMK 300gr or Lapua 300gr, Lapua brass, FM215 primer, 90grs H-1000 OAL length set to fit magazine. Not the highest velocity 338 load but very accurate in my rifle. I'm not sure what your Barrett is but you need a 1-10 twist for the 300gr bullets otherwise stick to 250gr. I don't think you will see much adavantage to 300gr loads unless you shoot past 1000yds. YMMV HTH

What do you consider long range. We sell alot of load development boxes. If you are shooting at ranges less than 1300 yards or less use the 250gr Berger Hybrids. If going longer than jump up to the 300gr bullets. Keep your eye on Retumbo and H1000. Also for precision us a Wilson chamber seater and you will never look back. All of our comerical ammo is loaded with a Wilson. It is the easiest and most consistant seater on the market. Now also remember you need to know your mag length. There is 3 standard lengths for the 338 Lapua.
    A - 3.60"
    B - 3.68"
    C - 3.76"
Most shelf ammo is loaded to 3.68"
