    ARs in 458 Socom are PRICEY!!! What say you about a Mauser action with a 458 Socom barrel? Be a heck of a deer whacker!!! Thoughts? Comments? Please keep your thoughts about my sanity to yourself :):

    Nothing insane about it at all, thought about doing something similar myself. Should work just fine, may need some work to get it to feed reliably, but if its a true large ring Mauser action and bolt, that shouldn't be an issue. Same rim diameter as 308, 30-06, 8mm etc, etc.

    You could always rebarrel a Savage. Then you could switch back to the original caliber with a few tools and some go/no-go gauges. Barrels are already chambered and threaded. Check out BFG on here.
