I been reloading this for last two years... I've been crimping bullets but since I'm shooting a single shot is it necessary? Load I've been doing is 50grains of h110 with 300 gr ftx. Puts a whop on a deer..do I need to crimp? With I knew fps also...
what other loads are good though this especially on accuracy

Well, lets discuss the pros and cons's of crimping.

    Pros
-it keeps bullet seat where you seat
-it lets heavy magnum powders get a complete burn before exiting the case

    Con's
-it increases pressure inside and to a case
-its an extra step in the process
-it can decrease case life... even if its just a little

Please feel free to add to either list

H110 is a magnum powder and if you want consistent pressures from your 500S&W H&R rifle, you really want at least a modest roll crimp.
