Yes it can. If I remember right the holes can have the filler screws from a scope rail placed in them if need be
Thank you. I had seen conflicting info between MAC's review (saying he planned to remove it) and a Ruger forum (saying it would not come off).

Trying to decide between the Mark IV Lite and the Mark IV Tactical. I would rather have the heavier model but only if the rail comes off.

Glad WebSnyoer was able to quickly come up with that. I would have had to google it.

I have a MkIII 22/45 Target and Lite, the Target balances much better than I expected it to given the additional barrel weight. That said, I couldn’t argue with the MkIV tactical model for it’s aluminum lower.

I did see that Bud’s has the 22/45 Target for around $70 less than the Tactical.

In summary, if you want a Ruger Mark IV with a threaded barrel, you have three choices:

    1. Mark IV Tactical - Aluminum Grip Frame - 34.6oz
    2. Mark IV 22/45 Tactical - Polymer Grip Frame - 33.3oz
    3. Mark IV 22/45 Lite- Polymer Grip Frame - 25.0oz
The lite version...bull barrel vs sleeved barrel.

Mark IV Target has a stainless frame with threaded bull barrel.
