I'm about done with a mishmash build of V Seven parts / Aero / Faxon barrel and really love everything about the V Seven parts. Kind of wished I went VS for the barrel too but I figure on the 308 lightweight build I'll probably spring for the extra and go all V7.

But their barrels are a bit expensive to put it lightly.

Anyone have one on here before and also gave a Faxon possibly also?

Are the V7 barrels really worth over double what a fluted Faxon costs?

    $720 vs $330ish.

I'd actually save about 6 ounces going Faxon so I'm unsure of what I want to hear. Buy once, cry once mentality being used to justify this one. A $755 matched receiver set is already a bit much. Could go with a Roam set and save 9 ounces and nearly $250 but unsure of how much I trust magnesium receivers still.

A 6 pound 308 AR sounds awful fun though. Especially since going with roam I'd be able to stretch to a 20" barrel and still be at 6.6lbs without a pencil barrel.

I've pondered a similar build. Honestly I can't see the value in spending that much more. Unless you have a money tree of course. Faxon is probably the way to go with the barrel.
