AR-15 stock replacement

Years ago (about 20) I purchased a Colt HBAR mid length target competition AR-15. The fixed stock was really never comfortable to use and I want to replace it with a Magpul adjustable. The question I have is, since I now am going to be in effect shooting with a shorter stock, should the spring and buffer be replaced as well to accommodate the shorter stock? I am concerned about the action short stroking with the original spring and tube. Any suggestions from the AR experts more than welcome.

If you bought a collapsible stock and a carbine buffer tube, then yes, you will need a carbine length spring and buffer

Yes... carbine length needs carbine buffer sping and buffer. Rifle length like your previously fixed A1/A2 used the rifle length buffer and buffer tube.
