I have an opportunity to pick up a Beretta 9000 chambered in .40 S&W for about $250. I did some research and this seems to be a reasonable price for the pistol. It is a friend selling the pistol so I can shoot before I buy, but I wanted to see if anyone has had any experience with one and would like to provide some input? Any help is appreciated :yesway:

BUY IT! $250 is a great price. They are not Beretta's BEST guns, but they are still decent. For that price, if all you do is shoot it at the range and leave it in a convinient place in your house, you've MORE than gotten your money worth.

I agree $250 is a steal for any Beretta. Even the 9000. If I were in you're position I would buy it in a heart beat.

The only problem people have had with the 9000 is the size of the grip. If it fits your hand, and is comfortable to shoot, that is a GREAT price!

I have the 9000S in 9mm and it has been 100% reliable and very accurate as long as I do my part. The only problem I have is that if I hold it like I do any other pistol, I run out of finger travel before the pistol fires. Once I hold it "correctly" for it's size, I don't have any problems.

I like Berettas. I have a 96D and 92FS. That being said the 9000 is one of the most bulky and awkward handguns I've ever held in my medium-sized hand. Dollar to a donut that you'll want to get something else after you've owned it for a short time.

Can anyone comment on the recoil? It will probably replace my P11 as my carry gun and I don't wan't something inaccurate or hard to shoot.

While mine is a 9mm, you would be hard pressed to find a .40S&W that is a soft shooter. Most have a good snap to them. I would guess the 9000 to also have a good kick, but with the lower bore axis, it might me more manageable than most.

I owned the 9000s in.40 for awhile. It worked flawlessly for me. It does have some kick too, but not worse than any 40 that size. Id pick it up for that price

For $250 I would buy it just to turn it and make a few bucks on it. [That's if it's in good condition.] Hell, you may even like the way it shoots and keep it.
