I've had a stripped lower sitting in the safe since before the last election. I've never built anything on an AR and was very afraid to try since I can't build Legos. :)

picked up a lpk and buffer tube assembly from M&J last weekend and ordered an upper from PSA on Monday night. The lower arrived yesterday so after everyone went to bed, I got brave. With the help of YouTube, I got started. I'm not going to lie, it took me a while and even with painters tape I still scratched the receiver a bit. It wasn't pretty but I got it done and it seems functional....bolt catch, mag release, safety etc.

    observations
1 pretty cool that all you need is a few items lying around the house
2 the hardest part was getting the roll pin in place on the bolt catch
3 someone should make an idiots lpk where the pieces are bagged separately but again, the Internet has handy charts so no big deal
4 armorer wrenches can be stupid expensive

    so the specs:
    psa lower
    bushmaster lpk
    colt 6920 butt stock
    PSA upper
    m4 profile 1/7 5.56 nato nitrided barrel
    carbine gas system
colt 6920 ch (the PSA one's release needs to be broken in I guess)
colt 6920 carry handle to be replaced with rail buis

    .
Looks great. One investment I made for building them was a roll pin starter punch. It has a hole drilled in the end that holds the pin. That way you can align it easier. I agree that is the hardest part of building them.
