    If I was closer, I would have you show me some in real life. I don't think I have ever seen one up here in the north, but I dont know for sure.

    Delicious. I think the flavor is just as good or better than morels. Haven't found hardly any morels the last couple years so it's nice these grow in the same spot in the woods every year.

    These mushrooms are out right now, tasty, and while there are lots of ways to cook them I like the simple method found on Realtree. I use an old wok from the 70s.

    A buttermilk batter w/ garlic is my jam for those. Haven't had in several years. Goes good with frog legs.

    I prefer a dry breading on my morels. Chicken of the woods is nice grilled, with a splash of teriyaki or lime.

    DoggyMama's dad gave us some years ago and I used them in chili. Now I typically add canned mushrooms to my chili. Not as good as the chanterelles but I still like them.

    I can't tell the difference so I leave 'em as mushroom / toadstool poisoning death is horribly painful. The damage can't be undone.
