Our freezer went **** up and I'm considering using it for a root cellar.
I've looked online and there are a number of options.
Does anyone have first hand experience?
    What should I consider?
    What works, what doesn't?

The family farm had a simple large pipe in the ground that stored apples like a champ. Nothing more that a Protected hole in the ground with a bucket with holes in the bottom at the base so you could pull up bottom contents you could not reach with an arm.
I don't remember anything else being stored in it but remember pulling apples for a Pie in February

    Sounds like
