Ok, this is a continuation of a post in a different forum. What is the approx. cost to reload 9mm? I already have access to the equipment, so now it's a question of powder, primer, lead, etc.. Any insights?

Well i dont know where you are located but Profire Arms has great prices on just about everything reloading. He is in Indy and is a great guy to deal with.

If you order online you'll have to pay shipping and for hazmat fees which will make the price per round go up even more.

If you had to buy brass, what would the cost per round be?

Go here, plug in your numbers. It gives you the exact cost.

    Handloading Cost Calculator

If you REALLY want to save money, start casting bullets too. For target work, there is nothing that a jacketed or plated bullet will do that a lead one won't, unless you are shooting indoors! ;)

I get wheel weights for free most of the time, even at $30 a bucket, the price for a 230gr LRN bullet make the price per 50 about $1.50. Something to think about.

Every shooter should be a reloader, every reloader should be a caster. IMHO

Unless you shoot Glocks!! Dont shoot lead out of Glocks.

I agree that casting would be a good hobby to have also. But only if you shoot something other then a Glock.

For about $125 for a Lone Wolf Barrel or less, you can. If you cast you can forumulate your alloy to even shoot lead in polygonal rifled barrels. I know folks that do it successfully, no problems at all.

    Hope this helps!

It's costing me right around $6 per 50, and I buy my components locally. I like to support my local businesses and no Hazmat fee.

This is the BEST way to do it too. That way, when you are out of something, and there is a shortage, you can go to your local "pusher" and he may open up that "private stash" for you!

I do this for everything but primers. One hazmat fee can cover 40,000 of them from most of the supply houses. You, your friends or your club can buy in that volume and split the cost. So, spread $25 over 40,000. What does that come to? 0.0625 cents each. Or 6 cents for a 100 or 60 cents for 1000.

    Just sayin' ;)
