My EDC is a XDm .40sw and my "nightstand gun" is a Mossberg 500. My "well, I guess this is it..." gun next to my nightstand gun is a Maadi Ak.

For me, my nightstand gun is a Beretta 92FS.. my first purchase many years ago, and still my most favorite to shoot in general... and I like the way it looks. I'm still searching for something to EDC... I bought a Bursa .380 Thunder for carry at one point, but it has never really inspired confidence in me. Been looking at the compact glocks and the SW MP compact as potential new purchases to be the EDC.

You only own one handgun? If I had to give up one of mine I have plenty more to choose from.

Did you even read what I wrote? What you said makes no sense at all. My normal carry is a 1911 and I have a number of replacements just in that model alone. I will not go into the number of other firearms I have.

My EDC is usually a compact 1911 in .45 acp with night sights. I sometimes switch to a CZ 75 Compact, also with night sights, depending on the environment. For nightstand duty, I use the CZ 75 more often than not, but will sometimes go with the 1911. Neither has a mounted light, but I keep two 200+ lumen LED lights on the nightstand as well.

Those two cover 100% of my EDC and nightstand duty.

You need a duplicate because if you need to use it in defense of you or loved ones it will be confiscated. Do you really want to be unarmed with the friends and family of the guy you just shot upset with you?

Having something of the same manual of arms is much easier to transfer too.

I disagree. I have two other pistols that I know just as well as my EDC. No one needs to spend an extra $500 buying an identical pistol because they might actually use it someday. If you are that dependent on one gun, just buy a new one if that time comes. Now obviously the Glock or 1911 obsessed may already have duplicates, but it isn't a need.

This was what I was trying to say.

In the nightstand is a FN FNP-45 with a tactical light and my EDC lately is between these two the G26 or the Kimber UC II.

My EDC and my nightstand gun are the same, Charter Arms Bulldog Special in .44spl. This changes from time to time.
