Shopping for a new trolling motor. I see the Minn Kota Max looks to be a bit more efficient for battery life. But Some say the technology it uses to quickly pulse the motor at slow speeds can mess with fish finders.

Anyone have any experience with that?

I'll be using this as a transom mount for my boat on small electric only ponds, so it will be within 18" of the transponder.

Found the issue. It WILL cause issues, especially with the portable units like I have. So steer clear unless your transponder is on the stern, and you are running a bow mount motor.

Its less prevalent in that situation, but still possible.

I never had a problem with Minn Kota messing with my fish finders and they have all be mounted on the trolling motor head.
Its only the MAX line that does it. Instead of using resistors to slow down the motor at slower speeds, it pulses the juice. Those impulses apparently cause weird frequency RF with SOME transponders.
