BPS shotgun receivers are come drilled and tapped for a rail, but the Browning rails have two cross cuts....one at each end.

    Gold and BPS Scope Base

Seems like it's set up more for rings not for mounting a red dot sight. Anyone know a gunsmith that would take a blank rail and drill it to fit the existing receiver holes?

    Thanks.

Typically a manufacturer will drill and tap the holes to match something else. For instance, I just put a scope rail on a Franchi Afffinity 3.5. No one makes bases for that, but I called Franchi, and learned it has the same pattern as the Super Black Eagle. I bought a SBE base and was done. It would defintally be worth a phone call to Browning.
