    Got a Stainless Vaquero 4 5/8" .45 Colt in a recent trade.
Made it out to the "Back 40" today to check it out.

Started out with 200gr. SWC mild loads-Next was my 255gr. Lee cast RNFP med loads. Finished up with some "Warm" 250gr. Nosler HP's, with a stout load of 2400.

The sights (AND my eyes HA HA) could be better, but overall good shooter-The 255gr cast+250gr. Nosler seemed to shoot better++MAN will they throw Bobcat Steel's Large Walkers into the next COUNTY..HA HA...Bill.

You wanna really have some fun? Try that 255 gr RNFP with your 2400 out of a 7 1/2" Old Vaquero or my Rossi Win 92 with a 16" barrel...now THAT'S FUN!!! I load that exact bullet myself! I use different power specs for the Ruger's, the 92 and my old Colt SAA.

    "Ruger Only Loads"

I'll try some 2400 with that 255gr. RNFP. That load, and the 200gr. SWC were loaded with Unique, just to get some loads down the barrel.
The 255gr. and the Nosler 250 JHP loads came from the "Ruger Only" section of my Lyman 49th, so they are not 'Pud' loads..Bill.

Check out John Linebaugh's website. He has some interesting thoughts on the 45 colt. I absolutely love my Blackhawk. I'm thinking of getting a Bisley next if I can find a blued version. I loaded up some using H110 and some 265 grn. Keith style bullets for deer hunting. They went through the chronograph around 1250 fps. They're somewhat shy of max load too.

Welcome to John Linebaugh's Custom Sixguns -

I would have to check my spec. on it, but I think the Nosler 250gr. HP were loaded over 20.0gr. of 2400 for around 1200fps.
I know they felt pretty STOUT...Bill.
