Can you trust any of fungi identification apps? Seems like a bad app can really hurt. It's been asked before but no real answer. Thought I'd try again.

No you can't. Apps aren't up to the task yet. Our youngest daughter is training to be a mycologist (fungus expert) and she doesn't trust apps. Good enough for me.

What kind of fungi is this? It's on an old dead tree about ten feet up and bright yellow looks fresh.

Looks like chicken of the woods, yellow underbelly and orange on top. Climb up and take a picture above it….lol
