A man who tried to help a New Orleans crime victim was shot in the stomach and would have been shot again had the assailant’s handgun not jammed, security camera video released by police shows.

Physically, probably. OODA loop reset by pain, he's probably oblivious to his surroundings at that point.

Some people have moved and fought with dozens of shots in them.
Not sure, but I think attitude counts a lot.
He might have been going in, to be the hero, and never thought through to the being shot part.
Maybe he's never been in a serious fight.

Doctors and Nurses can tell you, some people live that never should have with the injuries they had.
And some people die when they really didn't have an injury bad enough anyone would have bet on them dying.

Perhaps POS gun but my mind just can't conjure up an image of a gang-banger/punk type sitting around cleaning and lubricating his beloved pistol and then putting it back in his dehumidified gun-safe until the next criminal opportunity...

The OP implies that the Good Samaritan was unprepared for the confrontation and that may be somewhat true but then again if you were in his shoes and also unprepared/unarmed for whatever reason, would you stand by and allow him to drag that woman away like that? But it does clearly demonstrate the need to be both willing to intervene and prepared to intervene. Had Mr. Gold been armed he may still have been shot but the sight of him sitting on the sidewalk while the perp attempts to shoot him in the head is downright frightening. The standard liberal/progressive/socialist narrative of "...just call 911 and wait for the police to arrive..." is clearly NONSENSE in a real-world situation like this.

What this video clearly shows is how dangerous it is to be HELPLESS in the face of a brutal and remorseless ARMED criminal intent on violence.

Whaaa, lets see of the last three people I saw shot, the one that took a shotgun blast to the back got up and walked to the ambulance, another one took two to the chest, and the last one took one to the chest, one to the jaw, and one to the shoulder. All three were chillin in the ER a few hours later like it never happened.
