Years ago I bought a .222Remington barrel for my Contender.
I liked the pistol barrel, but can't find a rifle at an affordable price-point.

A short time after buying the Contender barrel I bought a BOATLOAD of .222Rem at a gun show and got a great price on it.
I would like to find a rifle chambered for .222Rem but I'm not even sure who made what.

Any suggestions on which brand/model to look for, or one's to stay away from?
Don't suppose anyone would know where such a rifle would be for sale?

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

What about a Savage model 340?
l just found a listing for one that has some cosmetic issues but is reported to be in good working condition with a clean bore and strong rifling for $400.

Is that a decent price, and is the Savage a decent rifle?

I'm not going to be shooting competition.
I'd like to stay at or below $600 for the rifle.
I see a couple Savage 340's, and even a Zavasta, but the Zavasta is sans a magazine follower and spring.
I'd rather buy a complete rifle, not one I'd need to find parts to use.

You might check with 500 Guns in Speedway. They used to import a lot of guns from England and that caliber is popular there and on the Continent.

There is a Savage 340 on GB for under $300, at least so far...
The Savage 340 will work just fine for you.. The one that I had did.
The ONLY concern to be had is the magazine, or lack of them..??
Be SURE the one that you bid on has at least one WORKING magazine.. They are hard to find and very $$$.
I have seen used 340 magazines to sell for more than a complete Ruger 10-22??...Bill.
