    They also attract flies as pollinators, giving them a warmer place to spend the winter and attracting them with the appearance of old meat inside the flower. The smell doesn't hurt either. The flies spend part of the winter tracking pollen around the flowers.

    Never heard of such a thing. I'll have to look for it sometime, but our land is only seasonally marshy in areas so I'm not sure if it would support the species.
