If your broke who's going to pay for gun & ammo, If you work and go to school I applaud you. If its mom & dad be considerate go with the 22 it's a blast. Good luck
I am fairly broke however work 5-6 days a week when I am home so get money then, along with just doing "handy work" for basically anyone that will pay me. So I am paying for all of this myself and it appears it will be a 9mm unless I find some other deal that is to great to pass up

EEA Whitness is an inexpensive pistol and can be had in 45ACP, 40cal, or 9mm. They are usualy very acurate and fun to shoot.

Too bad a .22 won't rock your boat. It does not get any cheaper than that. Love my GSG 1911.

While some one mentioned the Hi Point 9mm, that can be a roll of the dice. While I've read some good words about them, I'd probably feel more comfortable with a Bersa 9. Pretty good bang for the buck. See what you can find used.

The absolute funnest gun I have to shoot is a 4" SP101 in .22lr! It's cheap, accurate, and tons of fun! Plus, it helps me to continue develop my shooting skills! Whenever I'm at the range with friends...they all want to spend some time shooting it! It's my wife's favorite revolver!

    Mosin Nagant- $100
    440rds 7.62x54R- usually around $80- $90

And way more fun than a .22.
A very dangerous gun, sold a bunch this year and nearly half had problems. One guy took it home, shot it once and the gun completely fell apart. Also they have stopped importing these guns for some political reason, kinda strange.

I recommend a Taurus 24/7 in 9mm. Cheap guns, reliable as can be. Plus they dont have the super cheap look/feel of some of the other cheap guns out there.

S&W Sigma .9 or .40 are going for $299 all over the different websites and at a bunch of local gun shops. They are a great pistol for 300 bux, you can't beat it.

Take a look at the early pre-B CZ 75s. They can be had for under $300 and make an excellent gun for anything from carry to plinking. I just bought a couple from Robertson's Trading Post via GunsAmerica.com and have been having fun refinishing them. But, the 1992 vintage CZ 75s really did not need refinishing and would have been a great gun right out of the box.

Here is a '92 as received:

and with a bit of effort, it now looks like this:

The nice thing about going this route is that you can buy cheap and enjoy now, then if you want to make a project out of it, you can do that a bit later when money is a bit more abundant.

If you are going to buy a pistol and want something to carry, then a 9mm will be good... my vote would be the FNP9....
If you want a cheap rifle to shoot look into a AK74 (5.45x39mm)

I would look at interarms or waffen werks for the ak74
5.45x39= about 12 cents per bullet!!!!! (watch out, its usually corrosive at this cost, so
be prepared to do extra cleaning to counter that)
9mm= about 16.5 cents to 22 cents per bullet
7.62x39= about 19 to 20 cents (can be corrosive)
