I was fortunate to acquire a US Springfield 1922 M1 which was sporterized and converted from 22 LR to 22 Hornet which is centerfire. It has a G&H Side Mount installed but did not come with the top slide or rings. The bolt has not been altered. I bought a pre-war (all steel rings) top slide with high rings in anticipation of mounting a 1" scope. However the rings align right of the bore, which tells me that G&H must have made their top mounts specific to a certain make rifle, as I see no way to adjust the ring settings. Does anyone know of a good source of info on these mounts? I've not located a source with much info, and the existing Griffin & Howe (not the original firm) has failed to answer my inquiry. These top slides and rings are rather costly, and I hope the next one I purchase will have rings that align with the bore.
