I have an opportunity to pickup a Kimber Gold Combat I not the II for $850.00
    Good condition.
I looked but not a lot of online info about the I series.
Internal extractor, I am thinking it does not have the firing pin safety.

Anybody familiar with the differences and value?

Allen, your spot on about the series I Kimbers. I prefer them over the series II myself.

If it has the original box, papers etc. I would buy it.

I have a series one Gold Combat in Stainless, one of the best shooting 1911 I have ever had.

You are correct that the series one guns do not have the Swartz style firing pin safety.

The Gold Combats still command a high price.

If you don't buy it drop me a PM maybe I will :D
