Is this S & W AR-15 worth the money ???

A friend want to sell me a SMITH & WESSON AR-15 DETACHABLE CARRY HANDLE in mint condition with 20 mags, 400 rounds of FEDERAL ammo, & soft case, plus he's throwing in 200 of 40S&W ammo. For $950

20 mags @ $5 (assuming surplus milspec): $100
400 rounds ammo (@.30) = $120
200 rounds ammo ($.35) = $70
cheap soft case = $10
grand total: $1050.

KS&E in Indy had some form of the S&W 15 series AR for $599 when I was in there earlier this week. I think it was the Flat top sporter in 223. It didn't have a bunch of bell and whistles or accessories with it but if the model you're looking at is the same, may be something to consider.

Yep, I picked up an M&P Sport earlier this year for $599... I like it alot.


Doesn't sound like the one in the OP is a Sport since he referenced carry handle.

We'd really need more info to determine how good of a deal the gun posted by the OP is.
