Indiana State Sen. Ron Alting (R) is pushing legislation to ban "assault weapons" and "high capacity" magazines, and also to raise the minimum legal age for certain long gun purchases.

Dunning Krueger strikes at all walks of life. The shoulder thingy that goes up to the body won't let you get pregnant from rape, a lack of even a basic understanding doesn't stop people from voicing their 'expertise' on the topic and politicians are only slightly worse than the media on the matter.

To be clear, the title is misleading. It's not an AWB, but an age restriction on firearms. Still, he's in the wrong party for that. I'm not surprised when Democrats try to water down the 2nd Amendment, but am surprised when a Republican does. I don't know Mr. Alting. Is he a RINO in all areas, or is this stupidity new for him?

So many laws are so hypocritical. At 18 you’re a legal adult but can’t buy a handgun or even long gun in some places, not old enough to drink, not old enough for tobacco (I think now). You’re old enough to get into huge debt with the government, able to sign your life up for the government, able to be charged as an adult for a crime by the government. At some point both sides are going to realize that the government is making laws not to help the citizens it represents but for its own gain.
