Where the f was there ac?! We didn't even have washing machines. All laundry was done by hand.

Must have been parris Island marines....
Both of my sons had air after the crucible with the new barracks at MCRD Parris, washing machines on each deck.
No ac for me in 76, my GF enlisted in 1928 and was drafted in 43. Both times went to Parris, he told me we were pussys nowdays.
This is my #2 earning his Eagle & Globe.

Out of respect for your boys, I will let the parris island/San Diego rivalry rest for a night...

I was in s.d. in '09 only the d.i.s and chow halls had ac. Pendleton we weren't allowed to use the washing machines.

Now that we have GF cleared up...

WWII was a whole different world than anything we can imagine. When you've got a Navy Department (no DoD until September 1947) Form 214, been out for 11 years, and you get a letter that says REPORT HERE IN 3 DAYS.

Service commitment smervice commitment. Get your arse here, NOW!
